California is one of the nicest states in the country. Whether you are looking to ski the slopes or just hang out at the beach, California has every time of climate. If you drive up the coast of California, you will see some beautiful places. If you ever get the chance, take the scenic route from Los Angeles to San Francisco. The drive will take you somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-12 hours. You’ll end up driving through small towns in remote locations.

If you really have some time to spare, stop at Hearst Castle and take a tour. The architecture and sheer size of the castle will take your breath away. Carmel and Monterey are also two very nice lazy beach cities to stop and have lunch. If you’re looking for some of the best clam chowder in the state, be sure to stop at Pizmo beach. There you can rent a bicycle for the afternoon and go on a nice stroll.

When you get to San Francisco, be sure to stay for a couple days and really get to see the city. San Francisco is probably the nicest metropolitan city in all of California. Take a boat ride onto the bay and go right underneath the golden gate bridge.
