DTLA – Los Angeles’ unemployment rate has fallen from about 10% in 2010 to approximately 5% today, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, but there is still plenty of work.
In an effort to offer employment opportunities to some of the people who need them the most, the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council is hosting a job fair at San Julian Park on Tuesday, April 10, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The event spearheaded by Wendell Blassingame and Claudia Oliveira of DLANC’s Urban Needs and Resources Committee will feature more than 40 tables offering skills tips, information on training schools, high school GED information, and employment opportunities. According to a press release, the event will include job opportunities with The Broad, Babel Security, the YMCA and more. “When we talk to people in the community, we hear they want more access to jobs, more training education and help with the process,” Blassingame said in a prepared statement.
